Jennifer Leal brings a wealth of experience to our pediatric team with 28 years in pediatric nursing and 24 years as a nurse practitioner. Her unwavering commitment to children’s health and wellness has been evident since she decided at the age of four that she wanted to be a nurse. Jennifer has exclusively worked in pediatrics throughout her career, demonstrating her passion and dedication to this field.

In addition to her clinical work, Jennifer has also contributed to the education of future healthcare providers by teaching nursing students in a hospital setting and mentoring NP students in the office.

Growing up in the close-knit community of Linton, Indiana, Dr. Julie Walters understood early on the crucial role a primary care physician plays in people’s lives. Her experiences fueled a passion for primary care, which she pursued relentlessly through medical school. It was during her pediatric rotation that Dr. Walters discovered her love for caring for children, prompting her to undertake a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics. This dual training enabled her to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

After dedicating 20 years to practicing both pediatrics and internal medicine in Indiana, Dr. Walters embraced a new chapter by relocating to Florida, where she now focuses exclusively on pediatrics. Her move has been met with immense satisfaction, as she continues to find joy in every moment spent with her young patients.

Lacey Hodgson’s journey into pediatric nursing began in her early years, shaped by a love for caring and interacting with children. Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, Lacey’s path was clear from the age of 10 when she started babysitting. Her commitment to nurturing young lives led her to Florida State University, where she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduation, Lacey honed her skills at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, before advancing her education with a Master’s degree from the University of Florida, all while gaining invaluable experience at Shands Hospital.

Lacey’s career flourished with her first nurse practitioner role in a pediatric office in Sarasota. Driven by her dedication, she returned to All Children’s Hospital, contributing to the same day surgery department, and later spent 13 enriching years at a pediatric ENT practice. In 2021, she brought her expertise and compassionate care to East Lake Pediatrics.

Away from her professional life, Lacey finds joy in spending time with her grown children, Elizabeth and Will. Her household is lively with the company of two golden retrievers, Emmy and Sophie, and a charming orange cat named Henry. Lacey’s leisure time is filled with solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, delving into mystery books, and enjoying serene walks on the beach.

Her dedication to providing exceptional care to children is rooted in the compassionate and skilled care she received herself.
